Most teams that come to Tessel already have a semantic layer in dbt. Rebuilding it in another tool would bring back the problem it solved, so we don’t ask you to.
Connect the project
Point Tessel at your dbt Cloud project or a manifest file in your repository. Metrics, dimensions and their descriptions come across on the first sync, along with the models they depend on.
What stays in sync
Definitions stay in dbt. When a pull request changes a metric, Tessel picks up the new version on the next run and keeps the history, so you can see which charts used which version.
Owners and descriptions written in dbt show up in Tessel’s metric pages. People asking questions see the same words your analysts wrote.
